Associate Professor Flora Salim - 2018 Victoria Fellow
Associate Professor, Computer Science and IT department, RMIT University
Deputy Director, RMIT Centre for Information Discovery and Data Analytics (CIDDA)
The Victoria Fellowship was instrumental in that stage of my career when I needed to expand my research collaboration internationally.
It supported my visit to Cambridge Computer Lab for the first few weeks of my research leave in Europe. In Cambridge, I was hosted by a leading professor in mobile and wearable computing.
It also motivated me to apply for Humboldt fellowship, which I obtained the following year by Alexander von Humboldt foundation, and further, I was also nominated as a Humboldt-Bayer Fellow by the Bayer Foundation, during my research stay in Germany.
The new collaborations during my stay in Europe have led to more than six new academic articles with new collaborators. During my stay, I gave more than 10 invited talks, including two keynotes.
Since then, I have also been involved in two new European-based grant proposals. If successful, this will generate more impact across Europe and Australia.
Thank you Victoria Fellowship for opening the doors and supporting early and mid-career researchers in Victoria!
